Invisalign for Teens | Why It’s Becoming More Popular

Invisalign for Teens | Why It’s Becoming More Popular

Did you know that Invisalign for teenagers is becoming increasingly popular? Many people believe that Invisalign is intended for adults who want to straighten their teeth in a non-obtrusive manner. Invisalign, contrary to popular assumption, is an excellent treatment option for people of all ages, including teenagers.

History of Invisalign

When Invisalign originally came out in the orthodontic business in 1998, there were a lot of limitations on what instances it could and couldn’t treat. Since then, these clear, removable aligners have experienced numerous technological advancements and can now treat complex orthodontic problems that they previously could not. We have successfully treated numerous patients with Invisalign who had difficult concerns such as crowding, spacing, and various bite irregularities at Jennings Orthodontics.

Why is Invisalign a Good Option for Teens?

No Wires or Brackets

The fact that there are no wires or brackets to irritate the mouth or fall off the teeth is something that many teenagers appreciate about Invisalign. This means there will be few, if any, emergency appointments!

Fewer Appointments | Quicker Appointments

Invisalign visits are noticeably shorter and less frequent than traditional braces adjustments. We visit Invisalign patients every 10-12 weeks for appointments that take about 20 minutes on average. People who choose braces typically have 11 appointment visits (30-40 minutes each) during the course of their therapy.

Appointments are a significant reason why Invisalign has grown so popular among teenagers these days. Fewer appointments equals less time away from school and work!

No Food Restrictions

There are no food limitations with Invisalign because there is no actual metal hardware on the teeth. Teens appreciate the fact that they do not have to give up their favorite meals, as they would with traditional braces.
Because there is no hardware on the teeth, the teen can brush and floss normally instead of taking the time to brush and floss around wires and brackets. This aids in maintaining general dental cleanliness during orthodontic treatment, which is critical for shifting teeth into new positions.

“What Happens If My Teen’s Aligner Is Lost?”

We understand that things happen in life! If an aligner is misplaced, please contact our office to discuss what steps should be taken to keep your adolescent’s treatment on track. Normally, Dr. Jennings will encourage the patient to proceed to the next set of aligners provided to them in order to avoid any unintended movement or shifting. Losing an aligner has no significant impact on overall treatment, but it is critical to contact your orthodontist if this occurs. We believe in our teenagers and have seen fantastic outcomes with their motivation when it comes to Invisalign at Jennings Orthodontics.
